In an effort to help you plan ahead for next year, we are sharing a calendar that provides an overview to the 2014-2015 school year, and may support you in planning for family holidays, medical or dental appointments and other events, while minimizing disruptions to your child’s learning.
The 2014-2015 Learning Calendar outlines the school year by identifying all regular school days, school holidays, professional activity and training days, and early release days. We hope this will help you as you schedule events in the weeks and months to come.
With Full Day Kindergarten fully implemented across York Region District Schools come September 2014, all schools will also begin following a Day 1-5 Cycle Calendar, harmonizing and streamlining practices across the region, and eliminating the need for confusing ‘replacement days’ (e.g. Tuesday will follow a Monday schedule). For your reference, the Elementary 5-Day Cycle Calendar for 2014-2015 provides an overview of the 5-day cycle for the entire year. Each morning, the day in the cycle will be shared over the announcements as a reminder for all students.
As well, the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) has designated May 25 to June 4 2015 as the period during which Primary and Junior Division Provincial Assessments are to occur. We would kindly ask parents and guardians of students in Grade 3 and Grade 6 to avoid booking any appointments or trips during this period. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the office. We thank you for your support and look forward to a great year.
