The week of November 2 – 9 2015 marks the 35th annual Holocaust Education Week. This year’s focus is Liberation: Aftermath & Rebirth. Bakersfield Public School is proud to be hosting a Holocaust Survivor Speaker again this year.
On Tuesday, November 3rd at 9:30 a.m. students in grades 7 – 8 will have the opportunity to hear our guest speaker, Mr. Max Eisen. Mr. Eisen, a Slovakian/Hungarian Holocaust survivor will speak about his personal experiences during the war through his liberation by the US Army in May 1945. Mr. Eisen returned to Czechoslovakia following the war and stayed in an orphanage for three years before immigrating to Canada in 1949. Holocaust Education Week brings generations of communities together who share a commitment to learning and explores different national, generational and cultural narratives of the Holocaust and its aftermath.
We invite parents, family members and our school community to join us for this special presentation.
