The week of November 2 – 9 2016 marks the 36th annual Holocaust Education Week. This year’s focus is The Future of Memory. Bakersfield Public School is proud to be hosting a Holocaust Survivor Speaker again this year.
On Monday, November 7th at 9:30 a.m. students in grades 7 – 8 will have the opportunity to hear our guest speaker, Mrs. Rose Lipszyc. Rose Lipszyc was born in Lublin, Poland in 1929. On October 14, 1942 Rose escaped forced deportation. She survived the war under a false identity, posing as a teenage Polish child worker in Germany. Rose’s mother, father and two brothers were murdered by the Nazis. After liberation, Rose and her future husband Jack immigrated to Israel in 1948 and then onto Canada in 1952. Holocaust Education Week brings generations of communities together who share a commitment to learning and explores different national, generational and cultural narratives of the Holocaust and its aftermath.
We invite parents, family members and our school community to join us for this special presentation.
