This past week we had Registered Dental Hygienists from Public Health visiting Bakersfield P.S. and they asked that we share information about the Healthy Smiles Ontario program, below.
Good oral health is important for your child’s self-esteem, sense of well-being and their overall health. Help prevent oral health problems before they start! As of January 1, 2016, thousands of Ontario children and youth 17 and under are now eligible for free dental care as part of the Healthy Smiles Ontario program. The government-funded program provides free preventive, routine, and emergency dental services.
Is your child eligible?
Children and youth 17 and under may be eligible if:
- They are residents of Ontario; and
- They are members of a household that meets the income eligibility requirements
(this information can be found at ontario.ca/healthysmiles)
Interested? Here is how you can enroll your children:
You can enroll in the program online or by mail. Visit ontario.ca/healthysmiles for more information.
Your local public health unit can also help you apply or find a dental provider. Please contact them for information on preventive, emergency or essential services.
