In the Loop…

Many great things are happening here at BPS and we want you to know about them!

Starting Thursday December 6th Day 4 at lunch recess, the Bakersfield Well-Being student leadership team will be starting their Play Leaders Program. They will be hosting board games, card games and art activities for the primary grades. Each week, one grade will be invited to come to meet and play with other students in their grade while learning new games and having fun! The idea is that we are building community, encouraging collaboration and learning new games and activities.  We will start with our Grade 1’s this week!

Toy Mountain – our Toy Mountain is growing in the office.  Reminder that if you would like to send a new, unwrapped gift for a child in need – we are collecting them until December 19th.  The evening of the 19th, you are invited to the event at LegoLand at Vaughan Mills Mall.

ECO Club – our ECO club is working hard to educate us on being environmentally aware and friendly.  Right now we are creating GOOS paper bins (good on one side) for each class so that we are re-using paper.

Food Drive – Next week we are also going to be collecting non-perishable food items.  We know that providing opportunities to give back to the community is important and want to continue to encourage students to think of how we can help one another every day.  School Council will also be collecting food for the food bank as admission to our FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT next week.  Hope to see you there!

TED Ed Club – students in grades 5-8 have been invited to join the TED Ed club on Day 4s at lunch recess.  The TED Ed Program supports students as they discover, explore and present their big ideas in the form of short, TED-style talks.  For more information visit

HAVE YOU NOTICED?  We are working on greeting each other in the mornings, in the hallways and throughout the day.  From September until now there has been a remarkable difference in how we start our days – and it all starts with ‘Hello’ or ‘Good Morning’!  Join us by greeting one another as you are in the school and in the community.
