Welcome Back!

Dear Families:

Can you believe we are moments from the first day of school?!?

Welcome back to another school year. Please see the information below regarding first day entry procedures. We are looking forward to the first day of school and meeting the students and families on Tuesday September 3, 2019.  We encourage you to wear your Colour House colour to start the year, or Bakersfield Spirit Wear.

School Day: 8:55 a.m.—3:15 p.m.
Lunch: 12:35 a.m.—1:35 p.m.

First Day Entry Procedures:

Grades One to Eight:

On Tuesday, September 3, students in grades one to eight will meet at the back tarmac of the school where homeroom teachers will greet them. Teacher/Grade signs will be posted for students to gather with their class.  Staff will be outside with class lists to assist students and families with class placements. When the bell rings, classroom teachers will assemble their classes and take them inside to begin the day. Parents are asked to say goodbye to your child(ren) outside. Please inform you child’s teacher of the dismissal plans for the end of the school day (i.e., child care, parent pick up, school bus).

**Note – there are no class changes at this time.  Staff worked incredibly hard to place children where learning will be optimal.  If you would like to speak to the Principal or Vice Principal, please call the office to make an appointment.

You will be receiving an email this afternoon with your child(ren)’s Teacher Name, provided your contact information is up to date in Edsby and in our records.  Our office was renovated this summer and we are still living out of boxes – please be patient with us.

Kindergarten:

Year One (Junior Kindergarten) students will attend school from 1:35 pm —3:15 pm on this day. Year Two (Senior Kindergarten) students will attend school for the full day (8:55 am —3:15 pm).

Upon arrival, kindergarten students will meet inside the kindergarten yards.  The students will be escorted into their classrooms by a staff member. Please inform the teacher of the dismissal plans for your child at this time (i.e., child care, parent pick up, school bus). Students will be dismissed to parents at the kindergarten gates.

We invite Year One parents to sign in at the main office once you have dropped off your child.  We are hosting a short information session in the library, if you are interested in attending.

Transportation:
Student Transportation Services (STS) is a joint venture between the Catholic and public school boards in York Region. The mandate of STS is to provide a safe, efficient and on-time transportation for students. Transportation officers design and manage bus routes based on Board approved criteria as set out in policy #680. The school staff does not create bus routes or determine who is eligible to ride the bus. Parents and students can access a variety of information on the STS website www.schoolbuscity.com, including eligibility for bussing and pick up locations (if eligible). Click on MapNetWEB to enter your address.

We look forward to seeing you on September 3!  Get ready for AMAZING!!!!!!!!
