In the Loop…

We are a busy place as always!

Thank you to everyone for successful Parent/Guardian and Teacher Conferences. It was nice to connect to talk about successes and next steps as we enter into the second half of our first term. Although we would rather meet in person, it was still positive to be able to have a conversation about the great things your children are up to!

Our student leaders have been hard at work planning and implementing things around the school. One team planned and delivered on a Bakersfield Colours School Spirit Day last Friday. So awesome to see everyone out in Blue and Yellow or Bakersfield Colour House and other Spirit Wear. Our School Council heard the request for a new round of spirit wear orders and will be pulling that together in the coming weeks for those who are interested.

December brings the beginning of WINTER – and with it – cold weather and snow! Please make sure you are sending your child with appropriate clothing to be outdoors playing. Some of our students may also need a set of dry clothes too (you know your kids best!). Everyone needs a pair of indoor shoes to wear so that we are not tracking mud and water all over the school and so that we can participate in Phys. Ed. Please make sure your child has a pair of shoes to keep at school. If you have questions or concerns about this, please contact us at the office and we would be happy to support.

December also brings three Diamond Days that we will be talking about at school this month. Channukah, Christmas and Kwaanza. Students will have an opportunity to hear more on our announcements, in class discussions and through the displays in the school. We would like to wish all who celebrate these days a Happy Holiday! A tradition that exists for all three of these holidays in many households is gift giving, or a spirit of generousity. To support this at school, we will be hosting a Toy Mountain drive-thru to collect new, unwrapped toys for others in need. Our student leaders have also organized a Food Drive and will be sharing information with us later this week. If you are able, please consider participating. As a community, if we can support your family – we would love to do that!
