Hey Bakersfield Families!
We hope that everyone had a good week and that the signs of Springtime are bringing renewed energy and hope for all. This has been a difficult two years and we acknowledge that without the support of our school community and the respect for one another, that we would not have faired as well as we have. THANK YOU! Please continue to demonstrate respect and kindness for one another as all things ‘COVID’ begin to change here at school and in our world. We will endeavour to keep families updated and answer questions that arise. Above all else – together – we will keep one another happy and healthy. We will post the letter from the school board relating to some of the changes in a separate blog post.
Speaking of Spring beginning, today is Nowruz and we wish our families observing a ‘Nowruz Mubarak!’
We continue to work hard at school to acknowledge and educate students of the many important days for the families we serve here at Bakersfield. Our student Kindness Ambassadors and other student leaders regularly make announcements, create displays and offer us fun trivia in our ‘Bakersfield United’ morning announcements to supplement or spark class learning. Make sure to ask your children what they are learning about at school and when it is a significant faith day for your family, please be sure to let us know so that we can help to make sure everyone sees themselves represented here.
On the subject of inclusion, tomorrow marks two very special days. ROCK YOUR SOCKS day, where we wear bright, fun or mismatched socks to show support for our International Down Syndrome Awareness Day. See the image below for more information.
Tomorrow is also the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. We continue to reflect on the oppression and discrimination felt by very many people in our world, in our country and in our community. We actively seek to know and do more to interrupt and stop racism and injustice. Everyone belongs at Bakersfield!
