THANK YOU!

Good Morning BPS Families! We wanted to say a HUGE ‘Thank You’ to everyone for an incredible first day here at school. It is our hope that every child went home with at least a few positive things to say about being back at school. As we move through this week, classes will continue to get to know one another and build a sense of community. Teachers will be sending home communication of how to stay in touch – remember that parents and guardians are important partners in each child’s education and we value the home and school connection.

Pick Up/ Drop Off: Please continue to follow pick up and drop off routines as set out in the image posted at the bottom of this blog post.

Absences/Lates: Our iNFORM and our Edsby programs are up and running and available 24 hours a day. Please report all absences before 9:00 a.m. If we cannot reach you to confirm the whereabouts of your child within the first hour of school, we will have to contact York Regional Police. There are no exceptions to this and it extends to all absences (appointments, illness, religious holidays, vacations). Multiple days can be reported at once using the Edsby system. Student safety is paramount.

Lunches: Please send lunch with your children as we prefer to not be interrupting classes with drop-offs. Students in Grade 7 & 8 with parent permission can leave school property for lunch to go home. Permission will be required through the school start-up forms sent by YRDSB later this week and early next week. Emails and phone calls will not replace this permission form. For all other students who wish to leave at lunch, the form must be filled out and students are to be signed out by a legal guardian. Specific arrangements must be made with the Principal or Vice-Principal if there are special circumstances.

Hot Lunch Programs: We are looking to start hot lunches in October. Stay Tuned!

School Council: Parent voice is important to us. School council serves as an opportunity for the school to share details on the things happening in the building, but it also allows parents to provide input into some decisions that the Principal, Vice-Principal and staff are making. We also provide a chance for parents to ask questions and to support the school with community engagement events and fundraising. You do not need to officially ‘join’ council as a voting member to attend – everyone is welcome! If you are interested in a voting position, nomination forms will be in the school start-up forms sent by YRDSB later this week or early next week. Our first meeting will be in the library on September 29th at 7:00 p.m.. More details will follow next week, but save the date and we hope many of you come out and see what it is all about!

Meet the Teacher/Curriculum Night BBQ: Save the date – October 3rd! Everyone is invited to come out to the school for a BBQ (order forms next week on Cash Online) and to hear more about the program in your child(ren)’s class.
