October 31st at BPS

On Monday October 31st, we encourage all Bakersfield students to show their school spirit by wearing fall colours (brown, red, yellow, black and orange) or a Halloween costume if they choose. Recognizing that we don’t all celebrate Halloween, we will not be having class parties as part of our day.

The health and safety of our students remains a top priority. For students who wish to celebrate Halloween at school, please keep these reminders in mind:

– When planning costumes that no replica weapons of any kind are allowed.

– No masks that cover the eyes and nose (making students unrecognizable) are permitted.

– Costumes should be respectful of others.
Symbols or objects representative of a person’s culture or religious beliefs should not be worn as a costume.

– In the spirit of Truth and Reconciliation, it is important that costumes do not trivialize and devalue the lives of Indigenous peoples in Canada.

**We also ask that families do not send treats to school for sharing and remember after Halloween when candy comes to school in lunches that NO NUT products be sent**
