We had a great turn out at our last meeting and we hope to see even more people on Monday!
WHY JOIN COUNCIL? Hear from some of our council members why they come out when they can.
“When my daughter first started JK I joined to get involved in the school and voice my opinion. As a parent who does not do pick up or drop off I felt a real disconnect from the school and wanted an opportunity to meet fellow parents from the school. I enjoyed being part of activities such as BBQ’s, movie nights and Bingo. Well, then the world shut down and all the activities and meetings stopped. Seeing what council was able to shift to and do online made me love the community even more and want to continue to be involved. While other schools did nothing at all, Bakersfield Parent Council still did virtual Bingo, virtual get to know fellow parents and drive through toy drives and Krispee Kreme donuts. Bakersfield is not only an amazing school but community as well who all come from different places and the more diverse voices heard the better the school will be in reflecting the community. Please consider being a PROUD PARENT.”
“I joined council initially because I was brought by a friend. I quickly met many other parents and got to hear all of the great things that the school is up to. It was nice to be able to ask questions that we had and the Principal and Vice-Principal took our suggestions to make things better. I always thought council was just about fundraising and events but you also have input into policies and can help to plan community engagement activities. It has been an awesome experience and I am sad this is my last year at Bakersfield. I encourage every parent to get involved”
